Tentree, an environmentally conscious apparel brand, is blooming into a powerful force for positive change. The brand is setting new standards in the fashion world, capturing the hearts and minds of eco-conscious consumers globally.
Tentree is B Corp Certified and has achieved one of the highest scores in their category. Additionally, the brand was also awarded Best For the World in Community in 2021. All of this shows that Tentree has met the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance.
With its focus on sustainability, ethical manufacturing, and responsible packaging, Tentree is setting the benchmark for existing and new emerging brands in the global fashion industry. Tentree has already been carbon neutral since 2020.
Tentree makes use of different recycled materials across its product line and packaging. One of the materials used by the brand is recycled polyester, for which Tentree has partnered with REPREVE®.
In 2018, Tentree also introduced FSC 100% recycled hangtags. Tentree employs FSC-certified paper for crafting their tags, inserts, and sleeves, with the majority of it being sourced from 100% recycled materials. Additionally, their mailers are manufactured using 100% post-consumer recycled plastic.
The plastic packaging is manufactured by adding a chemical compound called BDG®. This packaging material can be metabolized by bacteria, and therefore, Tentree leaves nothing behind but biogas.
Tentree first achieved B Corp Certification in 2016 and completed the third re-certification in 2022. The current B Corp Score for the brand stands at 136.2 and Tentree ranks among the top five apparel brands worldwide.
Tentree has received a governance score of 17.3 from B Corp, while the environment score stands at 37.8. In 2016, Tentree had an Overall B Impact Score of 94.2 and in 2018, it achieved a score of 124.6.
Apart from B Corp Certification, Tentree also acquired Climate Neutral Certification in 2020. This shows the brand’s commitment to sustainability and following eco-friendly practices.
The
planting project undertaken by Tentree results in the plantation of several
millions of trees globally every year. In 2022, Tentree planted 25,441,770
trees across ten countries. Some of these countries include Canada, the USA,
Peru, Kenya, Tanzania, and Nepal.
As a result
of the planting project, 9,591,196 tonnes of CO2e were sequestered
across all sites. This is equal to taking out 2.1 million gasoline-powered
passenger vehicles off the roads for one year. Such is the impact Tentree is
creating through its environmental initiatives like planting projects.
