What is Abel & Cole?

Abel & Cole are a 30 year old organic company working with small producers to deliver quality and variety to the door.

Beyond Fruit, Veg, Meats and Bakery Abel & Cole have pioneered “Club Zero” which offers returnable and refillable glass bottles and pouches allowing for a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions. Able & Cole position themselves as a one stop shop providing everything above and household good from toiletries to homeware. All aligned to their sustainable and ethical mission.

Abel & Cole pride themselves not on their achievements, but on their targets. With a progressing mission statement demonstrating their continued expectations for development and their bias towards innovation and creativity when solving the worlds environmental problems.

Abel & Cole have been organic since the beginning. It is ingrained in their mission, and has been recognised by B Corp. 

Through the introduction of the Pastures for Life Label for their organic meat range you can be assured that the animals have been 100% grass-fed for their entire lives. 

Abel & Cole also introduced the Responsible Supplier Programme, a new audit to ensure that the full supply chain lives up to their expectations. This further support the Scope 3 environmental target to ensure the entire supply chain is carbon neutral

In 2022 Abel & Cole introduced One Box: One Portion. Off the back of their contribution to School Food Matters during Covid, they have committed to donation a portion of fresh, organic, fruit or veg for every box they sell. 

This addresses one of the Targets of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty and hunger in all forms.

From community gardens to fundraises, we are particularly impresses with their engagement with customers. 2,144 supporters of Abel & Cole made sustainable Pledges to reduced CO2 emissions.

Science Based Targets Initiative

Abel & Cole engaged with SBTi in 2021, demonstrating intent to achieve real goals, not paper ones. 

SBTi set measurable challenging goals for organisations looking to seek meaningful change. 

Amongst the goals we see reduction of Scope 1 & 2 emissions (in absolute terms) and a reduction of carbon intensity of Scope 3 emissions by 53% over 10 years. 

Achieving this target will see a reduction of at least 20,000 tonnes of Co2e. This is roughly equivalent to 10,000 petrol cars driving for a full year.
